How to Convert a Subscription - New Commerce Experience (NCE)
Migrating subscriptions from Microsoft CSP Legacy to NCE
Migrating subscriptions in PRISM enables users to migrate all valid subscriptions on legacy, to New Commerce Experience (NCE). The Subscriptions on legacy can be migrated individually or can be selected in bulk. When accessing the manage subscription page the subscription will be validated to determine if it can be migrated based on Microsoft and rhipe rules. When migrating a subscription, you must also migrate all child add-ons. Please also see the end of this article for scenarios/limitations to be aware of prior to migrating subcsriptions.
Individual Subscription Migration
- Within PRISM, navigate to the Microsoft CSP program tile.
Navigate to the Manage Existing Tenants tile
- Select the tenant by selecting Manage.
To migrate the subscription, navigate to the tenant and select Manage next to the subscription.

Click on Migrate Subscription
Bulk Subscriptions Migration
- Within PRISM, navigate to the Microsoft CSP program tile.
Navigate to the Manage Existing Tenants tile
- Select the tenant by selecting Manage.
Click on Migrate Subscriptions
User can select if the end date of the legacy subscription should be retained, or if they would like the end date to be one month from the day of migration. This would be the same as purchasing a new subscription.
Microsoft will control the mapping of which NCE product should be selected during migration, please contact CSP Support for the full list of migration product mappings.
Migrations can take some time to process. Please allow half an hour for migration to be fully complete and the billing will then occur as per the term of the subscription as shown in one of the three termed processed (aka Monthly Term with Monthly Billing etc)
Scenarios / Limitations

Annual Subscriptions with Renewal Dates
When migrating to an annual subscription, please be aware that annual subscriptions are set to not auto-renew i.e. expire on their expiration date. For example: If I have a subscription for "Customer ABC" for product "Microsoft 365 Business Basic" which has an expiration date of the 14th of January 2023, and I submit a migration request on the 19th of November 2022 to align the end date to the 14th of December 2022. The subscription will convert to an annual product of "Microsoft 365 Business Basic (NCE Product)" with an end date of the 14th of December 2022, however as the subscription is already within the 30 day window prior to expiration, you won't receive a renewal notification via email, and the subscription will be set to not auto renew unless you confirm the renewal in PRISM. Please see this
article for more information on renewals.

Subscriptions Migration on Renewal Date
New Commerce Subscription cannot be migrated within the last 24 hours of the current subscription term. You must wait 1 day for the subscription renewal to be
completed and then submit a request in PRISM to migrate the subscription. For example: If I have a subscription for "Customer ABC" for product "Microsoft 365 Business Premium" which is set for renewal on date 14th of February 2023, and I submit a migration request on the 14th of February 2023. The subscription cannot be migrated, and you will notice an error message in PRISM as shown below therefore you have to wait for the renewal to be completed and submit a migration request on the 15th of February 2023.
